What is The Pipers' Trail?

Home « About The Pipers' Trail

The Pipers TrailThe Pipers’ Trail is a celebration of the music of Pipes and Drums and seeks to encourage participation from a broad cross-section of Scottish Society. We aim to promote – through established pipe bands and piping institutions, youth movements, Local Government and the Army in Scotland - an interest in traditional Scottish music, public performance and other cultural events while showcasing the virtues of teamwork, individual excellence and a proper focus on collective endeavour.

This year, the British Army is commemorating 100 years of Territorial Army volunteer reserve service (TA100) along with the Reserve Forces and Cadet Association (RFCA100). We are using the celebrations to heighten awareness of the Territorial Army’s contribution to delivering an important component of the nation’s defence.

The Pipers’ Trail is designed to showcase a broad range of premier Scottish musical events. Visitors, musicians and their supporters are encouraged to join the Trail, sampling its various elements at each location. It is expected that participants will come and go from the TRAIL to attend piping competitions, highland gatherings and other leisure/cultural events along the way.
