Opportunities for Charities

The close affiliation between The Pipers’ Trail and TA/RFCA 100 along with the TRAIL’s broader intentions allows a multitude of charity opportunities. The Pipers’ Trail concept has been designed to be sustainable (ie: can run for a number of years) and flexible (ie: can adapt to the requirements of the moment). We want the project to engage with as many people as possible – of all ages and backgrounds – and to match needs of other parties (ie: The Pipers’ Trail could act as a component in other marketing projects and be adapted to suit particular business and civic needs).
Thus, while The Pipers’ Trail 2008 seeks to wrap around partners’ needs for the current financial year, we also see the project as a major contributor to ‘Homecoming Scotland’ in 2009 with secondary and tertiary opportunities beyond that.
The journey of approximately 470 miles has opportunities for charitable fund-raising and activity. Not only can the ‘owner’ of each mile set the tone and conduct for that mile but monies raised can be directed towards either leading charities or a selection of other benefactors of the owner’s choice. Established charities might wish to book sections of the route to secure Lead Charity status, to encourage participation in their stage and highlight their cause.
Charities may wish to draw attention to the planned activity along the route or flag up future activities, perhaps even associated with ‘Homecoming Scotland’, the Clan Gathering 2009 or other forthcoming initiatives.
While The Pipers’ Trail in its present form does not seek profit, simply to cover its costs, commercial exploitation of The Pipers’ Trail brand, concept and copyrighted material is an option for the future albeit in accordance with various Wider Markets initiative.
